The Nautical Christmas Shop

The Nautical Christmas Shop  is a love of labor for Carl and Jane Altadonna.  And it's an ideal 'off season activity' to their Sailing School, and Sailboat and Powerboat Rental Company.  Jane and Carl have operated the school and rental company for over 10 years;  their business is located on the Nautical Mile of St. Clair Shores, Michigan.

Jane and Carl designed and produced their first hand crafted Santas for The Nautical Christmas Shop in 1992.  Their boating interest provided a wonderful opportunity for them to visit many coastal sea ports.  Here they acquired the unique accessories used to adorn the Santas.  They're all handcrafted and no two are alike.   Each piece is signed C.J. Altadonna and dated.

In The Workshop

To construct a Santa, we start with a block of wood.  This becomes the Santa's torso which is covered with foam and fabric to shape 'their personality'.   We use fine porcelain for the hands and faces.  The hair is constructed from mohair, wool, and other natural fibers.  A great deal of attention is given to the Santa's outfits so each piece is an original character.

For You

We try to reproduce the designs as illustrated in the Web site.   However,
each piece is hand made and individual accessories may change.

Need something really personal?  Do you want to incorporate a special piece of
fabric or keepsake into your Santa?  We will work to your design specifications and
produce a Santa that is destined to become a family heirloom.

"We pledge to you that no Santa will leave our workshop
until we are proud to put our name on it!"
